Hi ,
I am a new member of the group from Italy (sorry for my english !). I =
actually own an i3, bought with the turbo upgrade installed 2 years ago. =
I got the manuals with it, so I can answer some of Garik Israelian =
questions (and make some considerations, too !) :
> B:A option allows to load (the same for saving) ALL
> styles. However, in that case I must be sure that I have
> enough space because i2 won't tell me this...It will write

A more detailed explanation of this can be found (no, not in the =
manuals!) reading the floppy's directory on a PC. Styles are saved in a =
file file with a .STY extension. When you save a .STY file from a =
non-expanded i-series with the B:A option, it creates a file that is =
roughly about 60 kbytes in size, and it contains only 4 user styles. My =
..STY files (and Garik's too, I think) are ~300 kbytes, much more =
larger, because they contain all 32 user styles. The immediate =
consequencies are : 1) You can load a 'short' .STY file in ANY of the 8 =
groups of 4 user styles that an expanded i-series has, and you can do =
this by selecting B:X, where X is 1..8; 2) if you select B:A when =
loading ('styles' or 'all data'), the i3 assumes that you are loading a =
'long' .STY file, that is, a file which contains 32 user styles. If the =
file is a 'short' one, the i3 stops with that silly message : "Can't =
read a disk'. As a matter of facts, it can't read the 28 missing user =
styles ! Dont' know why Korg did this ...=20
> I could not find how to access all these=20

Easier and easier ... want to know what Korg engineers have done ? Ok, =
say you want to select user style 31 ( 'U31') : in ARR/Style mode press =
the 'Style' button on the right of the display (I hope an i2 has the =
keys in the same position as mine), then press the '7' key on the upper =
row of the ARR/STYLE selection button; the display shows 'Style : U:1*' =
or something like that; then press the '3' key on the upper row of the =
PROGRAM selection button (yes, PROGRAM selection button, the third row =
from the top); now the display shows 'Style : U3*'; lastly, press the =
'1' key on the lower row of the ARR/STYLE selection button, and that's =
done. Easy, indeed ...=20
If someone is thinking that this resembles much a dirty patch for =
implementing features that where not planned on this instrument ... =
well, that's my opinion !
Greetings,
=
